Aleena's journey
through the bewildering maze is wearing her down. Her supply of almond water is
nearly depleted, her stomach cries out for nourishment, and the absence of
mirrors in this nightmarish environment leaves her unable to assess her
appearance. She suspects her face has become weathered and that she's shed some
pounds. Eventually, she came across a room featuring a tiny kitchen, tucked
away in a corner. As she drew closer, she scrutinized the counter and sink with
a wary gaze, noting every detail. The surfaces were a mix of yellow and white.
Her attention was caught by the steady drip of water from the faucet. Although
she felt a strong urge to take a sip, her instincts warned her that it could be
a dangerous choice. She rummaged through the cupboards and discovered a single
box of energy bars.
The label read: Good
for You.
"What?" she murmured under her breath. She ripped open the packaging and took a tiny bite. To her surprise, it had the same flavor as an ordinary energy bar. Once she finished the whole bar, a wave of energy washed over her.
She thought to
herself, "Wow, I’m not tired anymore," as she grabbed three energy
bars. With renewed energy, she kept walking, looking for the exit. It hit her
that she would eventually need something to carry items she might find along
the way. She moved cautiously through the yellow rooms and corridors, heading
towards a door. When she opened it, she stepped into an office that was largely
unoccupied. Unlike the yellow area that had enveloped her before, this space
resembled typical offices, but they were all empty.
She cautiously
walked the hallways, peeking into several office rooms along the way. In one of
them, she discovered a black and white backpack. Inside, she found a sizable
knife with a dry peculiar residue on the blade and a neatly folded piece of
paper. With care, she unfolded it and began to read.
To whom it may
concern, may the contents in this backpack serve you well. Follow the exits but
don’t open the red door. Stay safe and may God be with you.
Aleena swallowed hard, pondering the fate of the backpack's owner. She grabbed the energy bars and tucked them inside. With a firm motion, she slung the backpack over her shoulder and pressed on with her exploration of the office. As she rounded a corner, she noticed the words "The Backrooms" hastily scrawled on the wall in red spray paint.
"What are the Backrooms?” she mused, a sense of confusion washing over her. As she surveyed her surroundings, an unsettling and ominous feeling began to settle in. "Where am I?" she whispered to herself.
